Until You Make the Unconscious Conscious, It Will Direct Your Life and You Will Call It Fate.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a powerful, non-invasive form of energy healing from Japan that promotes relaxation and stress reduction through gentle touch by a trained practitioner.
Reiki is a powerful form of energy work discovered 100 years ago in Japan by Mikao Usui. This form of energy work facilitates the healing of mental, emotional, and physical wounds. We are energetic beings. Our life force, or “Chi”, continually flows through us, sustaining and maintaining our physical and spiritual health. When this energy becomes obstructed, it can create blockages in our chakras (our bodies’ energy centers), and various systems within our bodies, impacting our health. This can also happen due to emotional or physical trauma, generational trauma, illness, PTSD and unresolved psychological issues.
Reiki is currently being incorporated in major hospitals across the United States, the V.A. for the treatment of PTSD, and in a variety of mental health programs nationwide. Further benefits of this kind of treatment include: reducing anxiety and depression, alleviating the effects of chronic illnesses, improving of self-esteem, and promoting overall well-being. It can also increase feelings of peace, focus, creativity, love, and inner strength.
How Reiki works.
These treatments shut off the sympathetic nervous system (the stressful fight-or-flight response that floods the body with cortisol), and activate the parasympathetic nervous system, calming the physical body. Healing from trauma, releasing stuck energy, recovering from illness, and resolving psychological issues are not possible if you are stressed or in constant fight-or-flight mode.
To receive a Reiki treatment, clients lie down fully clothed on a comfortable massage table. The Reiki practitioner places their hands on areas of the client’s body, infusing them with powerful Reiki energy and removing energetic blockages. Drumming, sound therapy, and strategically placed crystals may also be used. Sessions last 60 or 90 minutes depending on the client’s needs.
Numerous studies have shown the therapeutic benefits of Reiki as a complementary treatment for any and all medical interventions. It has been proven to reduce fear and anxiety during cancer treatments, aid in recovery after surgery, reduce chronic pain, and slow the resting heart rate.
Though Reiki is not a religion, it can also deepen one’s connection with their spiritual source, and regular Reiki treatments can improve one’s quality of life.
Does It Hurt?
Reiki never harms. It is only used for one's highest good. Reiki can release suppressed emotions, stuck energy, or feelings buried deep within, and doing so can be physically and psychologically noticeable, but not problematic.
It will be necessary for a client to take care of themselves after receiving Reiki healing. This can be any preferred self-care methods like hot baths or rest, but also journaling, immersing oneself in nature, yoga, deep meditation, surrounding oneself with uplifting people, etc. It is crucial to pay attention to what the body and mind need after a session. At SoulSpring Healing, Cheyenne's intuitive, individualized approach provides each client with needs-based recommendations for self-care.
Please note that as with any healing modality, multiple visits may be necessary to address and resolve certain ailments or issues.
Incorporating Reiki as a routine part of your self-care or as support to traditional medical or psychological treatments will greatly improve your quality of life.
